I think everyone at the Frag Dominant organization can agree with
me when i say that we all excel at what we do whether it regards
leadership and planning (staff) or playing ability and determination
(players). For most of us the following paragraph is the equivalent of
"Duh", but for those who are just now breaking into the scene and for
every player who has ever hit a rut here are some of the things i
consider when I'm not at my best.
"All top players
possess a strong and varied collection of
habits which give them the advantage against high-placing
competitors. Now I am not talking about physical prowess such as
accuracy or reaction time, I am talking about mental habits. Mental
habits have a strong effect on high-competition and a tremendous effect
on middle-level-competition (The effects are emphasized more as
competition-levels are decreased). A lot of us wonder what the mental
habits are, while a minority of us keep it a secret or do not even
acknowledge it. Here are six major mental habits and mindsets players
should focus on."
1) Prediction
2) Case Constructions
3) Dynamic Reactions
4) Patience
5) Unpredictability / Conditioning
6) Strong Mindset / Emotional Control
Good and great players have hit ruts before, and in conjunction with
school, work, friends, family, and sometimes that special someone the
stress of juggling these roles can be taxing on your mental state and
even your physical well-being. Your priorities in life come first; i
find that when i am doing well in school and my family life is going
well i play better solely based on the fact that i put those two things
first in life. For those who wish to succeed and be successful in the
gaming world you must have your priorities straight. I find that taking
a break or switching roles is a good way to refresh in order to get
yourself focused for the challenge ahead for whatever it may be.
