Are you ready for the big swap to Quake Live, or are you still preferable towards Q3 CPM at the moment?
Chance: Quake Live is where it's at. This is the best platform to grow a competitive field and the game play actually feels a lot better than CPMA to me.
Do you think Quake is dying? - Why would someone say otherwise?
Chance: Quake has been "dying" since 2002, but what's that mean?
Chance: I just asked myself what that even means and I realized it just means the number of players the game has is decreasing; the active fan base is shrinking. Yeah, that's an accurate statement - it's been dying for a long while now.
Chance: It's still very much alive, but it's dying.
Interesting, so what are your feelings on CQ3 being the chosen game play over VQ3? How will this affect your performance in the tournament?
Chance: I think it's awesome. It's different enough to make it more exciting, and the same enough not to have a steep new learning curve. I doubt it will affect my performance any, it might help me if anything because I'm better with prediction based weapons.
So your expectations are to win?
Chance: Oh I expect to lose. But Palarity will win, so I'm not sure exactly what that means...
We're also wondering any thoughts you could share about your absence at ESWC Masters of Athens? In particular if you feel this has cost you a valuable chance of exploring your potential in Q3 in 2008?
Chance: I Really Really wanted to go so it was a bummer that I didn't get to. Honestly though, I probably wouldn't have done much beyond 4-5th place like usual. There's an invisible hurdle that's been preventing me from stepping up to the next level. I'm pretty sure I'll be 100 percent capable of overcoming it next year, we'll see.
Well you obviously have been dealing well with that "hurdle" considering your stellar performance at ESWC, beating Cooller and then k1llsen.
Chance: Thanks =] and yeah, I was feeling pretty good going into that tournament. My loss to CZM was such a shock to me, I felt horrible after that.
Chance: There's not enough time to do everything in life. It's probably the most frustrating thing. I'll just focus on bringing quality into what I'm doing at this moment and hope that I'll get where I want to be eventually.
Chance: It's missing the point using quality as a means to an end though. The means is just as important as the end. So I just hope I'll be able to do all the things I want to be able to do at some point :)
You've trained and are friends with many other North American professionals, why go with Palarity as your teammate?
Chance: It's going to be a challenge working out our schedules together, I doubt we'll have time to prepare much but I think we'll catch up like we usually do and play pretty well. I'm hoping we have more chemistry than some of the other teams and that will give us an edge.
How do you feel about ospdm6? Do you have a good idea of how your team will play the map or are you going with whatever works?
Chance: I saw Shane and Brian play it the other night. I noticed you can ramp jump to YA by rail, that's neat. I'm sure we'll wing it as usual :D
In your opinion, what is the weakest part of your game? Anything from your experiences in practice that comes to mind?
Chance: There's been a flaw in my game for the past couple years. I'm not going to jinx myself by revealing it; hopefully my results will speak for themselves in the future.
What are the chances of that flaw affecting your team play? And how dire could things get if it does?
Chance: I'm pretty confident it won't affect me in team play.
What two players do you look forward to facing off against? Why?
Chance: I can't wait to play Shane and Brian. I don't know what'll happen :)
Destrukt seems to be feeling pretty confident about winning the tournament, is he underestimating you and your teammate? Or anyone else for that matter?
Chance: He's not underestimating me in particular; his overconfidence is across the board.
So what is it going to take from you to prove him wrong?
Chance: Just play my every day casual game :P
So, nothing special on your part? - I hope you play your game then :)
Chance: Haha nope.
Good Stuff, thanks for the interview.
Chance: Catch you later man thanks for the interview!
